Welcome to Old Monk.
Located in 1/151 Baroona Road, Paddington we are open Monday-Sunday, 4:30PM till late. You’ll find us next to the famous Blue Room Cinebar.
We named our restaurant as an ode to one of the finest Indian rums which has a huge cult following. Our menu redefines traditional Indian cooking by adding a subtle contemporary touch and using the freshest local ingredients. On the menu you will find our interpretation of classic Indian dishes plus some new favourites are sure to please your taste buds. We are big on sharing so bring along your family and friends!
Old monk boasts a vibrant feel-good space found in between two lovely suburbs of Paddington and Rosalie. If you are after a nice night out enjoying good food and good booze, then Old Monk is the place to be.

Our talented chefs have created a menu that is simple to follow and is a curation of our interpretation of Indian cuisine. Our small and large plates are designed to be mixed and matched so you can share the love with your fellow diners, and we cater for all dietary requirements.
We boast a great selection of wines, rare and unusual Indian whiskeys & beers. And if you are in the mood, we highly recommend you try our creative Indian themed cocktails.

Meet the dream team behind OLD Monk
Our founder's story is deeply rooted in their shared passion for Indian cuisine. From the very beginning, their love for the rich flavours, aromatic spices, and diverse regional dishes of India brought them together and ignited a culinary journey that would eventually lead to the creation of our company.
Old Monk has received so much love from the community and was recently nominated as the finalist for the best Indian restaurant in Queensland
They have expanded their culinary journey and also recently opened TAPRI- Proudly Desi which celebrates and brings to you the street food of India.
Our journey is a testament to the power of shared passion, and it continues to inspire us every day.
